The first follow-up meeting to the Collaboration Agreement signed last October 2007 between Logistiknetz (Berlin-Brandenburg Region Logistic Cluster) and MPL, in the framework of the German Logistics Conference, took place on May 6 and 7 2008 in Madrid.
Rüdiger Hage and Wulfrann Overmann, from the German cluster, took part in different visits and meetings staged over their two-day visit. During the first meeting, held at the Transport Centre in Coslada, Tomás Iribarren and Gonzalo Romero, from MPL, referred to the advances in terms of infrastructures that have been developed since the first meeting in Berlin in October, as well as to the increase in the number of MPL associates and the backing received from the Region of Madrid in favour of activity sectors that contribute more added value to the economy, through the Network of Parks and Clusters of the Region of Madrid.
The Region of Madrid’s logistic infrastructures, especially the Dry Harbour-Inland Customs model, and the public-private collaboration for financing infrastructures and developing logistic areas were other points that raised interest among the German representatives, since the Berlin-Brandenburg region will be undertaking major actions in terms of infrastructures, as reflected in the presentation delivered by both Mr. Hage and Mr. Overmann. After the presentations, the group visited the Transport Centre and the Dry Harbour.
The second day of the visit included a presentation at IMADE delivered by Javier Soriano regarding the Network of Parks and Clusters of the Region of Madrid. Logistiknetz and MPL representatives agreed to further the collaboration existing between both institutions, which will be brought to fruition through the participation of the Berlin-Brandenburg Region in Logitrans and MPL’s forthcoming visit to Berlin, with a view to encouraging commercial and institutional relations between both associations and their associates.
